As part of preparations for the reconstitution of the School Management Committee (SMC), Tsiyinu Basic School has successfully held a stakeholder engagement and information-sharing session to lay the groundwork for a smooth and transparent process.

The meeting brought together chiefs and their representatives, SMC executives, opinion leaders, teachers, and other key community members to discuss the importance of the SMC in promoting effective school governance.

During the session, participants were briefed on the roles and responsibilities of the SMC — including supporting school improvement activities, mobilizing community resources, promoting discipline, and ensuring accountability in school operations. The discussions highlighted how strong collaboration between the school and the community can lead to better educational outcomes for pupils.

Traditional and opinion leaders expressed their continued commitment to supporting education in Tsiyinu, pledging to work hand in hand with the school to ensure progress and development.

The engagement also provided a platform for open dialogue, allowing participants to share ideas and reaffirm their joint responsibility in nurturing the growth of Tsiyinu Basic School.

With this successful first step, the school and community are now set to move into the next phase — the election of new SMC members, which will be conducted in a fair and transparent manner.

Together, Tsiyinu is building a stronger foundation for participatory school governance and community-driven education.
